Thank you to the go-ahead from the Vancouver School Board: this year we will be hosting the first year of the brand new
VSB District Honour Ensembles.
The goal of these ensembles is to enrich higher musical learning and create performance opportunities for music students looking for a bigger challenge with the top students across the district.

Auditions
Because this is a blind audition, it is important that you do not identify yourself in your recording or while on stage. Please follow the instructions below very carefully.
When auditioning do not speak in your audition or your recording. You do not have to introduce yourself or what you will be playing. Name your recording file exactly as follows, replacing the words ‘studentnumber’ with your actual student number and the word ‘INSTRUMENT’ with the instrument(s) you are auditioning on. INSTRUMENT.studentnumber.VSBDHB Your audition does not have to be recorded in one take, but please only submit one audio recording. If you have issues uploading, please ask your music teacher for help or email Ms. Riegert at eariegert@vsb.bc.ca. |
Auditions will be held in the 'blind' - meaning that the Honour Ensemble Coordinators will not know who they are listening to. This ensures that all students are accepted into the ensemble based entirely on playing skill, and not on personal bias.
Auditions will take place both in person, and online. We recommend online auditions, so that you may rerecord your audition as many times as you would like prior to submitting and also because there is limited time slots available for in-person auditions. Each student will be asked to prepare the following:
