Grade 8 Course Selection

Incoming music students into Van Tech can experience all 3 streams of music due to our flexible timetabling options. 

Choosing Beginner/Intermediate Band however, means that students will not be able to take the semester-based Fine Arts Rotation of Drama and Visual Arts, as they take up the “Fine Arts” slot on your child’s timetable.

Students that have no experience in music should sign up for the following:
Beginner Band: Grade 8-11, for first time musicians, on-timetable course
Beginner Strings: Grade 8-11, for first time musicians, off-timetable Mon/Wed 3:30-4:50pm, supplemental Friday rehearsals
Concert Choir: Grade 8-12, off-timetable, Mon/Thurs at lunch

Students who have one year or more of experience should sign up for the following:
Intermediate Band: Grade 8-9, on-timetable course (1-2 years experience)
Intermediate Strings: Grade 8-9, off-timetable Mon/Wed 3:30-4:50pm (1-2 years experience)
Concert Choir: Grade 8-12, off-timetable, Mon/Thurs at lunch

**Students may choose to sign up for multiple ensembles as none of them collide with each other!
